June Lake Loop & Mono Mill

After breakfast we packed a picnic lunch and drove the June Lake Loop where we were blessed with some great mountain views.

After leaving the June Lake Loop we drove to the site of the Mono Lumber Mill where Jeffrey Pine was logged to make lumber for the mining operation in Bodie. A narrow guage railroad ran from Mono Mill to Bodie to carry lumber and firewood.

Mono Mill was located in the largest Jeffrey Pine forest in the world.

After lunch at Mono Mill we decided to explore some back roads on our way back to Lee Vining.
