Columbia Valley

We arrived in at the Horn Rapids RV Park in Richland, Washington at 10:00 AM on Sunday morning. After settling in we packed a picnic lunch and headed to Red Mountain for a little wine tasting.  Red Mountain AVA is know for great Cabernet Sauvignons and the wines we tasted lived up to the reputation. Because it was Sunday all of the smaller wineries were open. Many we have never tasted before. We also tasted some good red and white Bordeaux and Rhone blends.

We enjoyed our picnic on the patio at Tapteil Winery. They have a full sized poodle with dredlocks in its tail.

The top end tasting we did was at Col Solari Winery a cooperative effort of Chateau St. Michelle and Antinori. They have created a first class winery with wines that can lay down for 10 to 15 years. Christine the wine tasting manager was very knowledgeable and served our flights of wine to us on the patio.

After a stop to shop for supplies we returned to the Winnebago had some popcorn and crashed for the night. Tasting at five wineries did us in.
